One common objection to homeschooling runs along the lines of this: "What about high school? How will you ever teach your children [calculus, chemistry, etc.]?
While this may be a worrisome question for some, those in the homeschooling community know there are now services and products made to fill all these needs.
ChemExplained.com combines the skills of a veteran chemistry teacher with a little technology to offer a solution that may be just right for your high schoolers. Stop at their booth and attend their Vendor Presentation on Saturday to learn more.
Doing Chemistry the Right Way at Home: Conservation of Mom!
All chemistry courses are not the same and many retailers give their textbook to Mom and say, “Here you go!” We must adhere to the principle that parents need a co-pilot to come alongside them to help guide and navigate their child through the challenges of learning chemistry at home. Chemistry is a course where students can benefit by listening to clear and vibrant teaching that will help them demonstrate proficient understanding of the concepts and calculations they need to know for college.
Richard Risbrudt is a H.S. chemistry teacher of 41 years. After receiving many requests from the homeschool community, including former students who homeschooled their children to develop a chemistry course, ChemExplained.com was created. The entire curriculum includes over 365 teaching podcasts and explains all the chemistry concepts including the math involved, in a language that students can understand. We are blessed to learn some of the calculations God used to create the universe!

Most archaeologists today have concluded that there’s no evidence that the Exodus of Israelite slaves from Egypt ever happened. Filmmaker Timothy Mahoney embarks on a 12-year journey around the world to search for answers. Patterns of Evidence: The Exodus unlocks the mystery of this ancient saga, combining a scientific investigation with a retelling of the Exodus story to reveal an amazing pattern of evidence matching the biblical account that may challenge our understanding of history.
I’ve never seen a finer or more interesting piece of biblical archaeology on film.
-Catholic author and apologist, Dave Armstrong

Historical Apologetics Is the history found in the bible real?
Is it fact or fiction? Many people debate this question causing doubt in the historical credibility of the bible. Filmmaker Timothy Mahoney will share from his film & book research showing patterns of evidence that match the historical account of the exodus. Presenter Tim Mahoney founded Mahoney Media Group, Inc. (MMG) in 1989. In 2014 Tim founded Thinking Man Films & Media as an international documentary & publishing company with a focus on education and the Bible. Like many Catholic homeschool families, we fell in love with The King of the Golden City when our eldest daughter was preparing for her First Communion. When we later discovered that Mother Mary Loyola had written dozens of books, we just had to have them in our home. Of course, we couldn’t keep them just for ourselves; we felt the need to share them with others, first in our Homeschool Group and then beyond.

Raising the Passionate Writer
Teens can be called many things: confusing, creative, even passionate. But not all passion is expressed the same way. Many teens find their most expressive voice through the written word. They may write poems, or stories, or entire novels. Writing just seems to be a part of them. How does a parent nurture such a gift? Join award-winning author and home school father Jonathan Friesen on a journey through the teen writer's mind, and discover how you can fan your teen's written flame. Jonathan Friesen is a homeschooling father, award-winning author and international speaker. He’s the author of eight novels for teens including Both of Me and Unfolding (Blink/HarperCollins). His personal experience with Tourette’s and epilepsy inspired him to write the highly acclaimed novel Jerk, California (Penguin, 2008), winner of the American Library Association’s Schneider Award—“Best Book for Teens.” Jonathan now serves as a Professor of Education at North Central University.

Come join us for three exhilarating days of creative writing instruction. The Minneapolis Young Writers Workshop connects motivated young writers ages 13-19 with best selling authors who are gifted with the ability to write and teach. Focused tracks allow you to learn from an author who writes in your genre.
Not only will you have the opportunity to learn from successful authors, you'll have the chance to receive feedback on your work. We believe that young adults have important stories to tell-so important that we'll place selected manuscripts on the desks of editors from major publishing houses. Does your story sparkle? Imagine an acquisitions editor from HarperCollins reading your chapters. That’s how book contracts are born.
