If you're interested in exploring more about this method, you may want to start your research with this free e-book offered by Simply Charlotte Mason.  There is lots of explanation on the method, but it will also help you choose materials for each school subject.

And then, of course, we recommend you make Jennifer Mackintosh's workshops a priority in your Conference schedule!

Subject by Subject the Charlotte Mason Way is available as both an e-book and an audiobook at no cost to you. Read the e-book version anywhere on your tablet, smart phone, or laptop. Listen to the audiobook while doing housework, exercising, or waiting for your child’s piano lesson to finish.
And feel free to share the book with others. It’s a great introduction to the unique methods that Charlotte Mason used. Pass it along to your homeschool friends who are looking for an approach that will work well for their families. Share the audiobook with your spouse who wants to learn more about what you’re doing and why.
Its chapters are short, so they won’t feel overwhelmed. Each school subject is presented in easy-to-digest, bite-sized chunks.

  • and Math, written by the lady who has done such extensive research into Charlotte Mason’s approach to math, Richele Baburina
Enough details are given so the reader can start using Charlotte’s methods right away, but not so many details as to overwhelm or make her feel bogged down.
Plus, there are chapters that talk about giving your children a generous curriculum and the principles that encourage good habits: using short lessons to encourage attention; emphasizing quality over quantity to instill a habit of best effort; and sequencing the subjects throughout the day to use different parts of the brain.
The e-book version contains links to helpful resources and extra articles, a sample schedule, a Subjects At-a-Glance chart, and more.
We love Charlotte Mason’s brilliant methods, and we want to make it as simple as possible for you to use them in your home school. That’s why we are providing this quick overview of how to teach each school subject in a Charlotte Mason way.
Whether you want to add a method or two to your existing curriculum, work your way up to them gradually, go all out from the start, or bring someone else along on the adventure, your free copy of Subject by Subject the Charlotte Mason Way will help you find your way one subject at a time.
